Meet Eloise

PUPDATE:

Eloise is a sweet, spunky, opinionated grandma, who is not afraid to make her opinions known. She expects to start her day at about 2am, and will demand that you get up with her for a few minutes so she can make her morning rounds in the backyard. She’s still getting comfortable with getting attention, and I think that she likes it, but she shies away a bit still. We are still trying to figure out her medical needs, and she has needed fluids and an enema, but blood work and xrays (multiple rounds of both ) did not give us answers as to why. She will be getting spayed and her remaining 4 teeth pulled in a few weeks, once she’s out of season. She will feel so much better without those teeth rotting away.
She is still as fashionable as ever, and she loves to wear cozy clothes 😍.

Meet Eloise, a super senior who came from county a week ago, and rocks the latest in doggy fashion! This petite girl (currently just over 5 pounds) saw our vet over the weekend, and has 4 quite damaged vertebrae that have caused some loss of sensation and movement/posture differences, but the damage is old and has some bridging so she’s on good pain meds. She may be uncoordinated, sometimes stand on the tops of her feet, and usually not be aware when she’s defecating, but she has sweet moves! She also has all over alopecia and is underweight, and her blood work did not give answers as to why. She has typical old dog hearing loss and vision changes, but she is not bothered by it. She is settling in very well with her foster, and will need to be spayed once she’s out of heat (yes, this 14+ year old girl is in heat, and her foster is a vet tech who is well versed in the signs of pyometra), and get her 4 remaining teeth pulled. There’s a few small mammary masses that we are watching and hoping will go away once she’s out of heat. She is the cutest little old lady, and has a sassy yet sweet personality to match her adorable looks. Eloise, you will never live on the streets again.

Meet Macy

Meet Macy! Macy is the sweetest, calmest and most gentle girl you could ever meet! She is a beautiful 13.5 year old Morkie (Maltese and Yorkie). Macy is doing great with other dogs and young children but we are unsure what she thinks about cats. She loves treats, and laying on her back for lots of belly rubs. Macy likes to socialize with everyone in the morning but tends to keep to herself the rest of the day. We think that’s what she is used to as we were told she spent most of her time confined in a crate or outside alone. Her prior owners were considering euthanasia since she was becoming an inconvenience due to her increasing medical needs and she started falling into the pool. Macy is blind due to cataracts, has valley fever, has elevated liver values, stage 4 dental disease and hyperadrenocorticism(Cushing’s disease). Macy is currently be being treated for valley fever with fluconazole and with Denamarin to help support her liver function. Although Macy had a positive Cushing’s test a year ago her treatment was never started. Macy will see one of our veterinarians soon to have a medical exam and lab work so we can get her the proper treatment that she needs. In the meantime we will continue to spoil her with lots of treats and belly rubs!

Meet Rufus

Rufus is an approximately 17 year old forever foster. He is both deaf and blind, he does not produce tears and has to have his eyes cared for 3 times a day! He is a sweet boy who loves to be loved! He loves his food and loves to be cuddled! He came to rescue from the Chula Vista, Ca shelter about 1.5 years ago after being found by a Good Samaritan! He is unable to hold his urine so has to wear belly bands at all times! But he still gets around fairly well even though he is on a steady decline.

Meet Remi

Remi is a adorable little girl who is about 3 years old and  came to us very sick. She is very emaciated and wouldn’t eat. She spent a couple days going to the hospital getting fluids and testing. All her tests came back fine. She is now eating but it not ready for her forever home just yet. She needs to gain at least 2 pounds (that will make her 5 pounds) then she can be spayed, chipped and get her shots. She is feeling much better and is a little sassy girl now. She would really like to be the only princess in her home or maybe just 1 fur friend and no cats. Watch for her updates.

Meet PJ “Patrick”

Patrick is a adorable little guy who is about 14 years old. He is in desperate need of a dental and his little back legs are a mess. We did X-rays and basically he doesn’t have any ligaments in them. We will be getting his dental done and at the sametime we will do a ultrasound on his liver and kidneys since his blood work was off a bit.

Meet Pebbles

Pebbles is an adorable little girl who is approx. 11-12 years old that found herself at the County Shelter. She had mammary tumors and rotten teeth. She has had her mammary tumors and rotten teeth removed and has been spayed.

We call her PB!  She is a tough old gal.  Her hobbies are eating and sleeping and even though she has no teeth she eats dry food like a champ. She gets along with all dogs and is just a great girl. She sleeps like a log all night in her crate next to Mom. She would be a great companion.

She’s very affectionate and lets you know when she’s hungry or needs to go outside!

Pebbles is now ready for her forever home. If you are interested in adopting her please fill out a adoption application.
