Yorkie Luv Rescue is committed to finding loving, happy homes for every dog in our rescue. From time to time a dog is considered unadoptable for a variety of reasons such as permanent medical conditions, emotional issues and even age. Sometimes this is apparent before we rescue, other times it is not. These dogs still deserve a loving home and good quality of life. In the Forever Ours program we provide ongoing medical care while they spend the remainder of their life with their foster family.
Buck is a adorable little guy who weighs 12 pounds and is appox. 13 years old. He is a super sweet little guy who loves to “talk” and snuggle and just be with his person. He had his blood work done and it is perfect.
Update: Margo has cushings and her skin is to thin to spay her. She is 13 years old and has joined out Forever Ours program
Margo is a adorable little girl approx. 13 years old who somehow ended up at the shelter. She is not ready for adoption as of yet she tested positive for Cushing disease. She has been on the meds for a bit now and is doing well enough to get her nasty teeth fixed however her skin is to thin to be spayed right now. We will keep you posted on her progress.
Dallas is now 12 years old, but does not act his age, and he’s been with me for 3.5 years. He loves to play and take long walks every day, and has a lot of energy. He has been slowly losing his night vision, but he is doing well. He’s a forever due to his behavior challenges and aggression. He’s improved a lot with the help of his behaviorist and Prozac, but he’s still very unpredictable, and his aggressive tendencies must be closely controlled when in public/on walks. He can be such a fun dog when he’s getting his way, but he’s a lot of dog to manage at times. Dallas and I love each other, and I am thankful that I am one of only a few people who gets to see the sweet and loving side of him.
Dallas is a 10 year old cutie who was surrendered to the rescue in early December 2017. He is a bigger Yorkie at right around 10 pounds. Don’t let his age fool you; he loves toys and going on long daily walks. He would love to be a walking or hiking buddy for someone! Tug is his favorite game, but he would also love for someone to throw toys for him. Dallas needs a quiet and mature home, and he is picky about who he likes. He prefers females, and needs a proper introduction with everyone. He would also prefer to be a top dog in a one animal home, but he might be okay with a small dog that gives him space (He currently tolerates living with a few small females). He is somewhat cat like at times and he definitely likes his space, but he has recently started to cuddle with foster mom. Dallas does have behavior issues, and he can bite. He is on Prozac ($6 at Wal-Mart) and works with a behaviorist, but his Dallas-tude still comes through at times. He might not always be easy, but he loves his people and can be a good boy. He just needs a controlled environment with someone who is as stubborn as he is. Mr. Dallas is clicker and crate trained, and will go to his new home with a clicker and knowledge of how to use it. He is ready and waiting for his forever home!
Our Sweet little Jingles is now ready for his forever home. He is still shy but warms up quickly he would do best with a doggie friend in the home. If you are interested in adopting Jingles please fill out a adoption application
Sophie is a adorable 10 year old Border Terrier mix. She is blind but gets around just fine. She loves to follow her person and snuggle. She is over weight we are working on that. If you are interested in adopting Sophie please fill out an adoption application.
Zeus needs a home where he is the ONLY pet in the house and he would do best with only 1 human. He is a good dog but does have some behavior issues that his person will need to continue to work on with him.
Zeus is a adorable “bigger” guy he is about 2 years old and weighs 16 pounds. He is a love bug who loves to play. He is up to date on his shots, neutered and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting him please fill out an adoption application.
UPDATE: Poor Mikey has gone blind from his Diabetes he will join our Forever ours program.
Mikey found himself in a ruff situation in June 2017. He was sick and diagnosed with Diabetes at the Emergency Room, Midwestern University Animal Clinic. His elderly owner felt she couldn’t take care of Mikey with diabetes and he would have to be euthanized. A call was made to Yorkie Luv Rescue and he became the white, curly not so Yorkie. Mikey is going on 8 yrs old in June and is a diabetic. He loves to be walked but is happy just to sit next to you on the couch for petting. Mikey lived with a cat in his past home and loves the dogs in his current foster home. If you are interested in adopting Mikey please fill out an adoption application
PUPDATE: Tink is still such a loving little girl, she is definitely my girl. She follows me around whenever I am home. She is 16 years old and still a feisty pup at times. She has done extremely well since losing her brother last year and I am honored to be her foster Mom.
Petey has a stage 5 heart murmur, his heart is enlarged and pushing against his trachea and he is showing signs of congestive heart failure. Tink is showing early signs of Cushings due to their age and health they have become Forever Fosters. They will stay with their foster family for the rest of their life.
Tink and Pety are a adorable bonded pair that must be adopted together. They are super sweet and love to cuddle. They both need dentals. We did Tink’s blood work and she is showing early signs of cushings but she is acting normal and playing fine. If you would like to donate towards their care our pay pal is Yorkieluvrescue@yahoo.com
Bella is a sassy girl who weighs a little over 7 lbs. She loves attention and loves to cuddle. Treats are like gold to her! She doesn’t get along with other dogs really at all. She’s a little picky about the people she likes (we can’t figure out why she likes or doesn’t like someone). Bella is also protective of her foster mom and will make a great companion to someone who doesn’t have any other dogs! If you are interested in adopting Bella please fill out an adoption application
