Happily Ever After

Meet Cooper

COOPER FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME
Cooper is a sweet 10 year old boy who’s owner recently passed away. He’s settling well in to his foster home, and absolutely loves snuggles! He does enjoy walks with his foster family, but isn’t too fond of the heat. Cooper was in a home with two larger dogs before, and does well with another dog now, however he’s a lower energy boy and isn’t very interested in toys or playing. Cooper does well with kids and meeting new people, but he’s very shy at first, and could take some time to warm up. But once he gets comfortable, get prepared for kisses and snuggles! Cooper loves gentle attention and has a great mellow personality. Cooper needs a little dental work, but then will be ready to meet his forever family!

Meet Gertrude

GERTIE FOUND HER FOREVER HOME

Meet Gertrude! Gertie is a senior girl who found herself at the county shelter with some neurological issues and an eye infection; she’s around 10 years old. RADs taken by our vet showed that she has a vertebrae that is “crunched”, which could be contributing to her movement issues. She walks sideways and sometimes in circles, her head often shakes, and she often falls and needs help getting up. She appears to be deaf, or close to it, but she can see. She’s still fighting eye issues, but she can definitely see. She’s a very feisty girl, and she is not afraid to make her dislikes known. She enjoys her naps and belly rubs, and spends a lot of her time sleeping in her favorite bed. She will need a dental and follow up for her eyes and other issues. She is not available at this time.

Meet Melanie

MELANIE FOUND HER FOREVER HOME
Melanie is a five-year-old Yorkie and Maltese mix and weighs six pounds.
Her human passed away and she was left to this wonderful lady, but she had a lot of cats, a large dog and small grandchildren that freaked her out. Melanie will need a home without cats, large dogs, or small children.
Melanie does great with her foster siblings, so small dogs are a good. She is such a lady and respects everyone else’s food bowl. She loves her meals and desserts. She also loves racing outdoors with the others to investigate or go potty. Melanie loves sitting on her foster parents’ lap or being picked up and walked around.
Melanie will have her first vet appointment on the 30th and then we will schedule her spay. I expect that she will go up for adoption soon after.

BUNNY FOUND HER FOREVER HOME

Bunny is a adorable little girl who is (our best guess at this time) approx. 5 years old. She is very smart, sweet and cuddly. Loves to play. She will be seeing our vet soon to get spayed, chipped and shots

Meet Jason “J Sauce”

JASON FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME

Jason is a sweet natured guy who gets along with other dogs and strangers. He’s 95% housebroken but did try to mark when he first came to us. (Not fond of his belly band)

He loves to cuddle and have his belly rubbed. He’s a good sleeper and will sleep all night long.
He’s definitely under weight but his appetite has increased dramatically in the week He’s been here.
He needs to learn some manners but is eager to please and is food motivated.
He goes for his vet check on the 28th.
I think after his neuter..barring any medical issues from his checkup…he should be ready for adoption.
He was very attached to the son (12 ish) of the woman who was holding him for 2 weeks so would probably do very well with older kids.

Meet Gimili

Gimili found his forever home

Pupdate:

Gimli is a sweet 5 year old, 20 pound little guy who is ready for his furever home. He is up to date on his short, neutered and chipped. He is very friendly when he meets new people and loves to say hello to other pups. He is very intrigued by cats, but has not been introduced to them. Gimli loves playing with toys, especially squeaky ones! Gimli was surrendered to us because he is a “resource guarder”, which means he can stand over and guard his food or certain toys/balls. Our trainer says that is an innate quality that will never go away, but can be managed, and we have learned how to do that! To limit his guarding, we have made some simple adjustments to his life (no free feeding, and feeding in small amounts), so he isn’t tempted to guard his food. Gimli LOVES to go for walks. He isn’t fond of using a doggie door and would much prefer a short walk around the block, and he is a quiet pup who may bark briefly when someone rings the door bell. Gimli is also crate trained and loves his crate. He has never had an accident in my house and if he needs to go potty, he runs to the door and makes it clear! Gimli is looking for a furever home with someone who is comfortable being his leader, and he should be the only fur baby. I would also say no small children because he does occasionally guard his resources. If you are interested in adopting Gimli, please fill out an adoption application.

PUPDATE:

Gimli is a sweet boy who is waiting for his furever home. He likes to guard his resources (mostly food, and occasionally a loud, squeaky toy). He is friendly to new people, but he can get overly excited about new things, and takes a few practices times before he feels comfortable and secure with new experiences. He likes to snuggle up next to me and lay, but isn’t a fan of sitting on my lap or being picked up. He does like his crate, and I will often find him curled up in there taking a nap. He does need a home with someone who is comfortable being his leader, and he should be the only fur baby. I would also say no small children, because he does guard his resources.

Gimili is a adorable little guy who is approx. 5 years old and 15  pounds. He was surrendered to us because he is a “resource guarder” Our amazing foster mom and our Awesome trainer are working with him on this issue. He is up to date on his shots, neutered and chipped. He is not quite ready for his forever home as of yet. Keeping watching for his updates.

Happily Ever After

Meet Jack

JACK FOUND HIS FORVER HOME

PUPDATE:

Jack, aka Jackie and Jack Jack, is doing well! He will be 7 in a few weeks, and has recovered well from having most of his teeth extracted (he has a grand total of 5 left), his hernia repaired, and getting neutered. He is really coming out of his shell, and has a great personality. He is still scared of people at first, and will need an adopter who understands that he will take time to warm up. He will try to run and hide when meeting people, but he has an amazing personality once he’s comfortable. He has recently started talking to me and dancing when he’s excited, and he has started to respond when the other dogs initiate play. His tongue hangs out adorably in a way that makes your heart melt. He also has an adorable overwrite that just adds to his adorable face.
He has been struggling with allergies, and recently began a prescription hydrolyzed protein diet (Royal Canin). He will be on that for awhile, and then we will introduce 1 new item at a time, and try to see what he is allergic to. He may need to be on the diet for life though, and it runs about $85/17.6 pounds. In the time he’s been on it, his coughing and breathing issues (which were bad) have all but disappeared. He still licks and chews a lot, but it can take 6+ weeks to detox from a food. I’m hoping that it will help him with the itching, but for now, he wears a cone when I am not able to watch him.
Jack is the kind of dog who I can see fitting in to a variety of homes, but I do believe that he would adjust better to homes with no young kids. He just needs people who will let him come around on his own, because he will, and he’s so worth the reward that his people will get.
Meet Jack! Jack was a breeding dog, and is 6 years old (7 in May). Jack is the sweetest boy, and he is learning how to be a house dog. He does mark in the house, but he is getting better. He is getting comfortable, but some loud noises and fast movements do make him cower. He loves to be with his people, and has learned that naps on the couch are glorious. I don’t think that he had ever been on a leash prior to coming to me, but he has also discovered that long walks are one of the best parts of the day. He goes with the flow, and is pretty easy going. He currently lives with both dogs (male and female) and cats, and is great with both. He does have allergies, but he is doing well with his otc allergy diet. He will be getting a dental next week, and will likely need a full mouth of extractions. He will feel so much better once his rotten teeth are gone! He also has an adorable overbite that gives him character. Once he is recovered from that, he will need to be neutered (he’s cryptorchid) and have an abdominal hernia repaired. He is not available yet, so watch for his updates! He is a sweet, loving boy, and he will make a great addition to the right home.

Meet Henry

This is Sir Henry! He is a 4 year old former breeding dog. When he was rescued, he had such a horrific ear infection that both ears were swollen shut. He’s gotten a steroid shot, daily oral steroids, regular ear flushes and drops. The swelling has reduced significantly, and this sweet boy is feeling better. Henry is a quick learner who wants to please. He’s also a snuggle bug and sleeps tight against me at night. He does mark and wears a belly band. He’s starting to play with our other pups who are showing him how to be a happy dog. Henry is just the sweetest! He is not ready for adoption as of yet he still needs to be neutered.

Meet Zoey

ZOEY FOUND HER FORVER HOME

Meet 2 year old, 4 lbs Zoey. She was an owner surrender who lived in a home with cats that didn’t like her. She has many puppy habits that she needs to be worked on. One is that she was never pottied trained. Her foster parents are working with her but she will need a forever home that will be patient with her and allow her to make mistakes while she is learning. She gets along great with other dogs and loves people. She is very playful and energetic and will need a home to keep up with her. She is also very sweet and loves to be held and cuddled. She does have a funny walk which is adorable but it does cause concern and we will be getting xrays to see what is going on. She will be fully versed and we will be posting updates when she is ready for adoption.
