Lilly was rescued from a high kill shelter in CA she found her forever home with a amazing family this is from her family
Hi Renee,
My wife Kat and I adopted Lilly last December at the dog show held at Westworld. You may remember Lilly as the adorable 12-year old who came out to AZ from Bakersfield a couple of days before the show.
I wanted to share some heart-breaking news with you. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye earlier… this evening. When we woke up this morning we noticed her tummy was a bit distended but she was not showing any signs of distress; on the contrary, she was her normal happy, energetic and loving self.
My wife and I went to work for a few hours and neither of us could get her off of our mind so we came home to check on her. We returned to find her belly distention had doubled in size and become somewhat hard. She still was not showing any change to her personality. We took her in to the vet. A paracentesis of her belly revealed a significant amount of blood. X-rays, blood work and a CT scan lead the vet to believe that it was either a bleeding splenic sarcoma or an enlarged liver or kidney which was bleeding for an unknown reason. After detailed consultation and significant discussion we came to the difficult conclusion that saying goodbye was the most humane decision for her.
Kat and I want to thank you for trusting us to adopt this precious friend. She was incredibly spoiled for the 9 months we had her in our family and she deserved every bit. She traveled with us and loved car rides, running at the park and napping with her tongue hanging out. She blessed us in so many ways. We only wish we had more time with her.
